The War Against the Weeds goes on. I win some battles, but then the weather turns. Too rainy and then the rain is followed by super hot, which the weeds LOOOOVE.....
Recently, the purslane and other stuff has given way to crabgrass. I kind of ... don't mind it? I mean, I don't like it in my flower or vegetable beds and I tell each one that I pull that they and theirs are welcome in the yard, but not in the gardens. And they are super easy to pull because of the way they spread out. Grab the center core and pull and you can actually clear a whole bunch.
Unless... of course... you can't.
I relied on that to get lazy when it was too hot or too wet. "It's easy to get so I'll get it later."
Crabgrass is insidious. Yes, there's a central core but it spreads out through everything. And if you're not paying attention those arms set down their own roots and become their own new centers. As it's spreading out, the central root is spreading DOWN. It might be easy to pull it when you first see it, but if you leave it alone, it will be that much tougher, and will have spread into far more areas that you first see. And then those become even harder.
My "crabby" advice. Get rid of that when you see it, before it seeps into everything else.
Kinda reminds me of something else......
